The pioneering collaboration between Caloria RIELLO, the representative of the leading heating systems manufacturer RIELLO, and the innovative Greek technology company DOMX is redefining the management of heat pumps. This partnership integrates DOMX’s innovative IoT and AI solutions with Riello’s recognized expertise in heating systems, offering a comprehensive and efficient approach to modern thermal management.

The adoption of heat pumps in Europe has grown significantly in recent years, mainly due to the need for decarbonization of heating and the shift to more sustainable technologies. Currently, it is estimated that there are more than 24 million installed heat pumps in Europe. While the integration of heat pumps in Greece is still in its early stages, it shows a growing trend, with the number of installed units exceeding 360,000 in 2024—mainly in new residences or renovated buildings.

Despite their rapid adoption, heat pumps still face challenges in proper configuration and parameterization. In many cases, the initial setup does not take into account real data from the installation environment or user habits. This often results in underperformance, increased energy consumption, or reduced comfort for end users. Moreover, the lack of remote monitoring by qualified technical personnel makes it difficult to identify misconfigurations and diagnose operational issues in a timely manner.

The combination of DOMX’s heating/cooling controller with RIELLO’s modern heat pumps enables detailed recording and analysis of operational data in real time, and remote configuration based on the actual needs of each space. End users gain easy access to system management through a user-friendly mobile app, allowing them to monitor performance, adjust parameters, and receive alerts in real time. On the other hand, installers and maintenance technicians can take advantage of the cloud-based platform to remotely diagnose and optimize the system, enabling immediate intervention when needed without a site visit. This not only improves response speed and service quality but also significantly reduces operational costs and system downtime.

“As the official representative of RIELLO in Greece, CALORIA is particularly proud of this strategic collaboration with the Greek company DOMX,” said Mr. Nikolaos Tsitsios, Technical Director of CALORIA. “Integrating DOMX’s smart control technologies with RIELLO heat pumps opens a new path to efficient, smart, and adaptive heating management. This is not just a remote monitoring system, but a real-time dynamic configuration tool operated both by CALORIA’s expert technical team and our extended partner network across Greece. This translates into reduced energy consumption, optimized performance, and maximum comfort for the end user. We believe this solution emerges at a turning point in the Greek heat pump market and proves that digital transformation in energy management is now a reality. CALORIA will continue to invest in innovative partnerships that enhance quality of life and energy efficiency.”

“We’re excited to partner with CALORIA RIELLO, a leader in heating solutions, to deliver a complete and efficient heat pump management service to Greek households and businesses,” said Dr. Stratos Keranidis, CEO and co-founder of DOMX. “With this new collaboration, end users will be able to fully enjoy the benefits of their new heating system and maximize their investment, ensuring improved performance and long-term energy savings.”

The collaboration between DOMX and Riello doesn’t stop here. Additional features are already under consideration for integration into the platform, such as:

  • Operation adjustment based on energy production from connected photovoltaic systems
  • Operation scheduling using lower energy prices from dual-zone tariffs

These new features will provide opportunities for further energy cost savings without sacrificing performance or user comfort, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing operational expenses.

Beyond its commercial activities, DOMX actively participates in cutting-edge European research projects—such as InEExS, DEDALUS, AI-DAPT, EU-DREAM—which focus on efficient heating system management and their integration with energy markets, reaffirming its commitment to scientific and technological progress.
